I love how music and art often reflect each other. My Great - TopicsExpress

I love how music and art often reflect each other. My Great Grandfather was an artist and left several oil paintings behind which our family has held on to for years. He wasnt anyone famous but the paintings have been insured and have hung in galleries and in a museum show recently. I inherited two of them from my Grandmother which he painted in the late 1890s or 1900s, right before WW 1. This piece by Rachmaninoff was written exactly at that time, in 1900 and I love to listen to it and stare at my Great-grandfathers paintings because they both express the feelings and style of that era. My Gram also left me a few small pieces of her Edwardian jewelry from my Great Grandmother and some of her antique furniture from that era, and although they are not incredibly valuable, they also have that same artistic feeling from that era, and when I listen to the music, wear the trinkets, stare at my Great Grandfathers paintings and sit on the antique chairs I feel like I am transported back in time a little :) I will try to get a decent photograph of my Great Grandfathers largest painting, its just tricky because the painting is framed and done on a large canvas and Im not quite sure how to get a clear image of something that large.
