I love how my relationship with dad keeps evolving and how opportunities keep showing up for us to deepen. I used to be so triggered by his approaches. This morning, he rang me and was clearly charged up. The giveaway line, Im not trying to start World War III, but... (he is a classic for communicating like this!). I know that beneath it all he is scared of death and dying. He is facing his own battles and seeking control outside of himself. I am grateful that I could hold space for him in this day, let him know that he didnt need to control me or us, that I am here and we are ok. Not being triggered feels healing for me, too. I just feel compassion and more connection.
