I love it when a client offers to pay more than what I ask. I hate to nickel and dime the client, no matter how affluent they are. I have set fees for the price of a painting, based on size. Then, for travel expenses, I only ask to be reimbursed for air fare and two nights lodging. But this client insists on paying for a couple of extra days, if necessary, at the Montauk Yacht Club (!), and to cover the cost of renting a van (its going to be a pretty big painting). And would I like a car to pick me up at JFK and drive me out to the Hamptons, so that I wont have to sit in that awful traffic behind the wheel of a van?
