#I #love, love, love #exponentially US Seattle metal group #Nevermore. It is sad that such a fantastic artists disbanded recently. In fact I consider them and Agalloch as the best USA metal groups post 1990th. They create warped epic music as a direct continuation of baroque traditions in music and enlightenment values. In my opinion, Pantera, Trivium, Lamb of God, and Slayer are a little bit boring especially in comparison to Nevermore and Agalloch. Dream Theater and Symphony X are too pompous and complex for sake of complexity. Nevermore and Agalloch are just the right mix of metal and progressive music. The gentlemen from Seattle are just American national treasure more than anything else. A. You have extreme (frequently mixing black/death/thrash/doom metal) riffs and beautiful ethereal esoteric guitar leads of epic Jeff Loomis. It is impossible to describe his guitar playing style: he mixes different types of metal to come up absolutely devastating yet elegant sounds. B. Thoughtful and intelligent lyrics delivered in absolutely epic, honest, and artistic manner by Warrel Dane who uses his voice to maximize drama (switching from semi operatic vocals to almost black metal rasps). Lyrics carefully discuss various social issues, science discoveries, environmentalism, and religion. They are written by a thoughtful person inspired by Enlightenment! C. Song craft is almost supernatural just like baroque artists. Tracks: The River Dragon Has Come Final Product, Next In Line,Matricide, Inside Four Walls, Narcosynthesis, and Heart Collector, and I Voyager are stunning musical lyrical perfection. D. Favorite song: Narcosynthesis Narcosynthesis Hypnotize me, mesmerize me Drain the color from my eyes Patronize me, energize me Change the world, internalize How did it come to this, Narcosynthesis Alienate me, learn to hate me Crucify your ideals the flesh is the swine We are the last ones and were bleeding For an unseen god Turn my blood to sand Lives fall through the hourglass and grow cold What are you searching for?
