I love mornings. As I drove into town one morning this week I noticed that there was a long span of dark clouds as though someone had swiped a paint brush through the picture. Edging the clouds there were pink and orange hues denoting that the sun was indeed shining. There was sunshine above and below the dark swipe of cloud was. This ribbon of darkness went across the entire sky from one end to the other. Sometimes life gets cloudy. We see the ribbon of darkness and it feels like the entire sky is obscured. We don’t know if we’ll ever see the sun again. Troubles have clouded our view. Hurts shroud the blessings. Rejection envelopes the horizon and we don’t know how to respond. We get angry and find that the sky gets even darker. We want to get even and the pink hues beyond the dark fade. We see what happened to us, so we feel that God will punish the offender according to our standards. Another swipe of the brush of cloudiness and we’re unable to see God at all. Oh beloved, God knows about the cloudy ribbon in your life. He also knows about the people, situations, mistakes and actions that brought the streak on. He says it’s time to forgive and forget. Forgive yourself if you are holding onto your regrets. Forgive others if you are focusing on what they did to you. The cloudy shroud covering your view is only in the middle. Below that trouble is sunshine. Above and beyond that trouble is more sunshine. Let God repaint your view. Let Him have the very things that keep you in the dark. He will turn your darkness into His Light. He promises to make all things work in ways that will be blessings to you instead of cursings. Sit at His feet and bask in His love. Watch as you focus your attention on the Lord and see the ribbon of troubles, anxiety and cares drift away. The Son will show forth His majesty in your life for you to see. God loves you and He’s for you. His plans are good and His hand is working for you. The blessed thing to do is to look to Him and live beyond the clouds. The Son, Your Savior, will shine always in your life as you give it all to Him and live in the Light of His Word! Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. Luke 6:27-28 But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Psalm 16:11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever. Malachi 4:2 But for you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
