I love playing To Catch A Thief! While working self check-out today this guy scanned an item that came up on the monitor 16 pc socket set, price $17.88. I looked at what he sat on the floor and read 105 pc. Of course since I need new glasses I could read it all so I walk over while he was feeding money into the cash slot and saw he was buying a 105 pc ratchet and socket set. I said Sir, there seems to be a problem with the item youre buying. It shows you are buying a 16 piece ratchet set for $17.88. He cut me off and Yes, thats what Im buying. I said Umm, no, it shows here youre buying a 105 piece ratchet & socket set and Im pretty sure it costs more than $17.88. Lets go to the podium and I can call my manager. He agreed and at the podium I turned the box over and low and behold, what do I find? A bar code taped over the original bar code. The guy now says, I knew the price was too good to be true. Who put that there? Really? Who does he think hes fooling. Obviously he did! So I ask him if he wants his money back and he tells me hell pay the difference because he needs them. So I do a refund, give him back the $17.88, scan the original bar code and oooops $98.97 is the correct price. He paid it. I wrote it up along with his description, time and which self checkout register and I am happier than a pig in shit! Some people kill me! Because of idiots like him, only who actually gets away with stealing, they are the reason prices keep increasing!
