I love that Direct Action Everywhere is exposing the fraud that is humane meat, eggs, and dairy, and taking on the biggest fraudster-in-chief, Whole Foods Market. As more and more people start to grow concern for animals raised and killed for food, I believe they typically take one of two paths. The ethically consistent path that we want to encourage people to take is simple and obvious: veganism. The second path that other people take is purchasing eggs, meat, and dairy deceptively labeled as humane. This allows them to continue their old habits, but now their guilty conscience is assuaged. As such, I think the humane meat trend is not only a deceptive crutch, I believe it is one of the greatest impediments our movement faces in realizing a vegan future. We need to speak out, loud, and often about that.
