I love that wherever you go, whoever you meet or speak with - everyone wishes one another a Gmar Chatima Tova - at the petrol station, supermarket cashier, sushi delivery man, Pelephone sales rep, school security guard, tennis coach, everyone everywhere. Perhaps if we all truly wish and believe and will for each other to be signed and sealed in the Book of Life, maybe Hashem will bless us all in this way. When reading through the blessings we give our children before Yom Kippur, I am reminded of how we carefully chose our childrens first names. Maayan Liyah: May our yearnings always be for Torah and Mitzvot – compared countless times to a MAAYAN Noveah, an eternal life source and spring of sustenance, true wisdom & vitality. Shani Noa: May we be blessed with the Segulah of Protection, just like the holy Chut HaSHANI, recalling the great merit of our ancestors reminding us to emulate their modest ways of consideration, compassion, and selflessness for the benefit of others, while simultaneously giving charity to the poor and needy. It follows that this internal reflection that inspires so many good deeds, more than the red string itself, would protect one from any evil and harm. Idan Akiva: And ultimately, may all our sincerest prayers this Yom Kippur be heard loud and clear and answered so that Hashem sees a worthy and deserving nation and a loving world ready and waiting for an era of Peace, an IDAN Shel Shalom. Wishing you all, your loved ones and all of Am Yisrael a Gmar Chatima Tova.
