I love the Psalms. I could dive into this book of the Bible and really cut out the others entirely. No offense to the other prophets, but David is my kind of guy. The Bible records many heart-breaking tales throughout David’s history, but the part I love most is that every time he royally blew it, he crawled back, completely broken, and asked God to forgive him: “Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me by your generous Spirit” (Psalm 51:9–12). No matter where YOU have been or what you have done...God will do the same for you. He is always there to welcome us back with open arms.
