I love the message from Bro. John this morning on Colossians - TopicsExpress

I love the message from Bro. John this morning on Colossians 2:9-12 about how Jesus, in bodily form, is the fullness of God and how if we are in Christ, that same fullness of God is what completes us. John brought up the famous line from the movie Jerry McGuire, You complete me. He told the teen girls, No 13-year-old boy will ever complete you, then looked towards his wife and said, No 38-year-old boy will ever complete you. He went on to say that there isnt a treasure, a career, a success, anything that completes us- that ONLY Christ and Him alone can complete us. He said that when we are complete in Jesus, everything else and everyone else adds to that fullness. Such a good word. Why do we look to other things to fill the emptiness that only completion in Jesus Christ can fill? Why do we desire to ever go back to what Jesus cut away from us when He spiritually circumcised us from our sin natures? Bro. John gave the example of how someone having had a cancerous organ removed from their body would never say, I wish I could go back to that time I had cancer, yet, so often we want to return to our old ways. If you have never been made complete in Christ, it is as simple as desiring to die to your life of never finding lasting fulfillment outside of following Him daily and trusting Him to do in you, supernaturally, that which you will never be able to do- through faith that He can and will. If you have been made complete in Him, dont be afraid to live like it. Live out your baptism (dying to your old, sinful nature) every day. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.~ Colossians 2:9-12
