I love the story of David. This man was soooo far from perfect like so many of us, yet he was said to have the heart of God. Wow what a compliment! in 2 Samuel 1 David learns of Sauls death and instead of rejoicing he mourns and composes a song to be taught to the people to sing to Saul. Saul was not only his enemy but this man had tried to kill him on several occasions. Yet David honored him because at one point he had been the Lords anointed. It really speaks to the magnitude of how important respect and honor are to God even to someone who has been less than kind and has even tried to kill you! Later on in 2 Samuel 9 David goes out of his way to find a descendant of Saul anyone that he could be kind to. And that he did. He found Mephibosheth who the bible states was a paraplegic and gave him back lands that had belonged to Saul his grandfather and he assigned people to work the lands for him since he was disabled. He also invited him to sit at the Kings table all the days of his life. How are you treating your enemies and the descendants of your enemies today? Are you wishing them harm or are you praying for them? Are you looking for the first opportunity to destroy them whether it be spiritually, physically or emotionally or are you looking for ways to be kind to them? #Davidsheart #Notforthefaintofheart #RealmanofGod
