I love these two pictures of Worcester Park. They have been seen before on other sites. The first one was taken about 1941, we see that Confuse a Kraut, is in full swing. The Station name is missing from the bridge, and the platform. The truck on the right is in black out condition, but the driver is heading for trouble because he has lost his off side head lamp hood. The bus is infact a Manchester bus, on loan to LT for that route, because of increased passenger loading for route 127. Quick anorak point, a true LT bus in that period would have a white disc painted below the rear lower deck window. Moving to picture two, happier days have returned. The station name just above the Bus has reappeared, the sign on the bridge also reinstated. The bridge was replaced in 1963, with a wider version, and the road was lowered at the same time. You can see in the first picture, that there is not a lot of room for the Bus both width and height wise. People will till you the road was lowered to allow Double Deckers to pass under neath, well what are they. They are low height versions, but still double deckers, more common in other parts of the Country, but still doubles, and dont let people tell you other wise.
