I love this article. Absolutely LOVE it. I am constantly learning and trying to better myself, but I made the mistake of doing lots and lots (way more than I should have) free sessions in the beginning and now Im doing lots and lots of sessions that Im not passionate about because thats the experience that I got. Dont get me wrong, I love seeing your faces and I love that you want me to take your family pictures for you, but thats not where my heart is when it comes to photography. I see all these forced smiles and Ive had countless parents behind me yelling at their kids to just look at the camera and smile. I dont want to capture those moments for you, I want to capture the real moments for you. The real smiles and the real joy that will make us remember our children just as they were. Happy and young and carefree. So once this crazy fall season comes to an end and I have a little more time I will definitely be doing something different. I had a hard time calling myself a photographer until just recently, I always thought of myself as more of an artist. So its time to let my artistic side shine and I hope you all are ready! Also, if by chance a fellow newbie is out there and needs a friend, I need one too. I told my husband that I needed a BFF that was also a photographer, but honestly Ive reached out to several and in this small community I feel like everyone is competing and wont give another photographer the time of day. petapixel/2014/10/02/dear-new-photographer/
