I love this quote from John Lennon: Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. Beautiful, isnt it? As entrepreneurs, freelancers, marketers and business owners, we like our freedom. We like to be in control of our lives. We like to think were living as warriors, boldly living the lives of our dreams. And sometimes, thats exactly what we do. We live it up. We ambitiously and courageously get out there and live our lives. We feel proud. Were making memories to be proud of on our death-beds. But we have a dark side. If youre anything like me, you like to think, plan and strategize. Good skills and habits, to be sure. But what happens when you spend too much time planning? Too much time thinking about the best way to make something happen? Life passes you by. Its not a good feeling. How many people come to their senses at 30, 40, 50 or 60 years old, realizing that life slipped past them while they tried to figure out what they should do with themselves? Maybe they spent years and even decades waiting for the right time to get started. Waiting for the stars to align... or their courage to come... or their anxiety and fear to go away. Waiting to feel ready. In 1 years time, what are you going to wish you did today? How about 10 years.... in 10 years time, what will you regret about 2014? Will you wish you spent more time with your family? Will you wish that you enjoyed more sunsets? What about your business? Will you wish that you worked harder? Maybe thought bigger? Because looking back in 2024, youll see that if you had just gotten started earlier, youd be where you wanted to be earlier. Look. Life doesnt wait for anyone. You can think, plan and strategize all you want. There IS a time for that stuff, but just remember: DONT let life pass you by. I just wanted to share this message with you.
