“I love you Daddy.” The sweetly spoken words came from the other side of the bathroom door. I was locked inside, sitting on the toilet with an entire bottle of prescription medication poured out into my hand. My anxiety and depression had become so bad, my life in such utter turmoil, I was contemplating putting an end to the pain. I sobbed as I thought of my wife finding my lifeless body slumped on the bathroom floor. I remember thinking it was an appropriate place to end a life that had turned to crap. Then the voice of my tiny daughter came through the bathroom door. “I love you Daddy.” God was, in that moment, reminding me that I was loved and valued. I walked out of that bathroom more determined than ever to see my life through no matter what tomorrow brought. 16 years of tomorrows have passed since that day. My friends, if you are struggling through a difficult season in your life, know this: God loves you. God cares. He is with you every single step of the way. God will not abandon you. Put your trust in Him to carry you through. God will not give you more than you can bear. Have faith in His plan for your life. He will bring you out on the other side and you will be a better person for it. These are not cheap clichés or silly greeting card sentiment. These are truths, promises made in the Word of God. How grateful I am to be His child. I love you Daddy. Be blessed.
