I love you Joy but boy I do believe you and your guest who was on disputing the Republican state senator who was clamoring for less contact with Cuba saying because the US loves freedom so much. She was ridiculous. Really really she thinks the United States is the bastion for freedom loving foreign policy decisions??? I thought she was INANE! This is a country that has supported tin pot right wing dictatorships ALL over the world, conducted illegal and I might say immoral wars continuously, waged war on the powerless, destroyed infrastructure, blew up the Middle East, created 1 million refugees from Iraq and that senator thinks the US should continue an embargo that does NOTHING to the Cuban government but only hurts the people of Cuba. Does that woman with her paucity of foreign policy understanding know that the US is not in the business of moral foreign policy? It is in the business of protecting its interests and that has and always has been about BUSINESS. She was simply AWFUL and you and your guest who were on disputing her barely did so. The hypocrisy is alarming. Who are we to dictate morality to anyone really and I support this nation but I continue to see the hypocrisy of its claim to exceptionalism. Embargoes do NOT hurt power, they hurt people and we ARE in the business as even Nixon knew of having to have relationships with nations we do not like. There is a lot to not like about Cuba but freezing them out does NOTHING to a nation 90 miles off our coast!
