I loved performing to a full house at the Funky Bazaar last night - TopicsExpress

I loved performing to a full house at the Funky Bazaar last night in the Broken Pieces spoken word series...I told two stories from my past, memoir pieces that I had originally written but found, through repeated rehearsals, that I had to whittle down in order to make the episodes more to the point and palatable to an audience...it was an interesting process, clearing away material that was relevant in a written essay but extraneous in a told story. This makes me happy, to have performed in a new genre to me. From my view, the audience clearly enjoyed the stories...I think the first might have run ten minutes, the second 15, so I also deeply appreciate the audiences attentiveness...everyone seemed pretty rapt. My thanks to Peter Buhl and the Funky Bazaar for putting on the shows, my thanks to my fellow performers, and thanks to ALL the people who came...sardine-like packed house might begin to describe the elbow-to-elbow intimacy of the place...
