I loved playing these charming Viennese dances of Fritz Kreisler - TopicsExpress

I loved playing these charming Viennese dances of Fritz Kreisler with Laura Daian, an excellent pianist from Buenos Aires. In the spirit of fin-de-siecle Vienna, I wore a pocket watch from 1895 that belonged to my grandfather...but my tie, purchased in Kabul, was hand-woven in Herat by Afghan women. As for my playing in this performance, it is respectable enough, but I didnt communicate many of my ideas about the structure and timing of the music as effectively as I thought I did at the time. I occasionally employ a beautiful sound, but to what end? A beautiful sound is a useful tool...if used properly. Its humbling that while Im often attacked for speaking about global political matters, I still need so much improvement in the one area—Western classical music—in which Im supposedly expert. Perhaps, to be safe, I should confine myself to speaking only about my love of pizza. In that area, at least, no one can challenge me :)
