I loved this song since I was a child, and have fond memories of my grandmother liking it too... and that was WELL before I was aware of the history of it: Norman Hurricane Smith was an engineer at Abbey road studios; he was in there working with the Beatles right alongside Geoff Emerick and George Martin. Small world, huh? He played this for Paul during white album sessions in hopes that the Beatles would do it; Paul told him it was a wonderful song and that he could really hear John singing it (which was his polite way of saying no). Nice that Norm got to have the hit for himself. https://youtube/watch?v=qnxoTCvklKQ
