I loved today! Started out this morning with Amanda, Karley, Tillie, Kerry, Harper, and Kennedy headed to the zoo. Everyone was hungry and couldnt agree on a place to eat so we went to Golden Corral where they had something for everyone. Tillie made at least 6 trips to the dessert bar and had one of everything. Amanda said we would have to roll Tillie out of there. The zoo was ABSOLUTELY packed! It took us 20minutes to get thru the traffic into the gates. Once we got there we realized our annual pass had expired! Decision time: pay $100 to get in, buy a pass for $185 or NOT fight the crowd and go somewhere else? We decided to go downtown Indy and walk the canal. We parked the car and put my credit card into the meter and couldnt figure out how it worked. We ended up paying enough to stay until 7:30 PM! With 7 kids someone always has to pee. So we asked an office on the canal to use their facilities and they invited us in happily! No such thing as a free potty! Had to listen to them pitch their business for 20 minutes. Next we headed to the paddle boats because the kids wanted a boat ride. My knee isnt good enough to paddle so the kids had to do it. 2 different boats....3 in one and 4 in the other. Harper wanted to know how the boats worked so he went inside of the garage, got down on all fours, and asked one of the girls to push the pedals so he could see the paddles turn. I LOVE his curiosity! Each of the kids took turns paddling the boats! It got a little dicey when they decided they wanted to change boats in the canal....they did! No man overboard drills were necessary! Got ice cream and headed back on foot down the canal. Potties needed again so we walked into a Marriott Courtyard just like we were staying there , walked past the front desk and shared hellos with the desk clerk and proceeded down the hall to find a bathroom! Bingo! Out we went and back to the car. It was only 4:00 so the car hadnt been towed. Whew! I could just see a big tow truck pulling that creepy white van down the street. Harper was hungry and since I had promised him Taco Bell we went to the Taco Bell from Hell downtown. I spent $50 on TB food! Staff not too friendly. They didnt have any childrens drinks and before I knew it Tillie had filled up her cup with Mountain Dew and downed it before I could stop her. Oh my.....in about 30 minutes the caffeine hit her and she was bouncing off of the walls...literally! Kicking and screaming at the top of her lungs, we finally got her into the car screaming... I want my drink, I want my drink which we had thrown away. Thank goodness she cried herself to sleep as did the rest of them. End of our field trip....and as Paul Harvey always said, and now you know the rest of the story! Steve Paul Mandy Sheckles Teri McCracken Sheckles
