I made a MobMuPlat app for my phone that emulates an autoharp. You select a chord from the 5 x 8 array, then strum across the harp. It has a native plucked string synth and a few sampled instruments. From the PC, you can load any tuning you want. I have loaded 1/4-comma meantone, Pythagorean (3/2 fifths across chords, 5/4 thirds within a chord), and some Bohlen-Pierce chords. My question is: does anyone know other tunings with five or so main chords that would sound good across eight or so roots? For example, for meantone I have major, minor, seventh, m7, and dim from E-flat to E by fifths. Im wondering if certain tunings lend themselves better to chordal harmony (while others are better suited to contrapuntal or other textures).
