I made a joke in my workshop over the weekend: Dont move like - TopicsExpress

I made a joke in my workshop over the weekend: Dont move like the yoga tin man! I was half joking... I find that a lot of Yogis transition from pose to pose very rigidly without utilizing their whole body, specifically the spine. No matter how flexible or strong you get its of little value unless its helping to move fluidly in your body. Embody all this great yogic wisdom, dont just intellectualize it. You are the wind, you are water, you are grace, you are vibrant! In our system we teach a full spinal articulation in each transition and vinyasa. In most cases I find that students can move their pelvis anteriorly (creating extension in the low lumbar curve) but have trouble executing the posterior movement. Thats a clear pattern that will start to create imbalance between the front/back body and can lead to lower back pain/tight hips, ect. Use your whole body when you move like a wave. You are dynamic, Youre not designed to just move linearly.
