I made a woman cry at the WalMart this morning. She was buying a few things... Bananas, single people meals, egg roll. She swiped her card and it declined. She asked the clerk to suspend her order, she was going to go find out what was wrong. I passed her as she frantically searched through her wallet, trying to pull together the change while hiding out on one of the scooters. I put my groceries in my car and reentered the store. The look of distraught and hopelessness was too much. No one should struggle to scrape together $6 for food. I walked up to her and told her that I ser her all the time when I go to her place of employment (a place I frequent a lot). She is always so sweet and polite. I placed some cash on her wallet and told her I appreciate that. She had that prideful struggle... She knew she needed it but did not want it. She offered to pay me back. I shook my head and told her, instead. One day, when she has the means and the opportunity arises, she should just pay it forward. She did that thing I do where you fight and lose to hold back tears, and she whispered thank you. I smiled and said Good night and God bless as I walked away. See, there is goodness in the world. Sometimes it just takes one person to change the life of another. Be the good.
