I made an observation today. Whenever I have occasion to use the word wife in a sentence such as; my wife said this or, my wife did that... I find that each time I am struck by it, it gives me pause. Of course I know I am married, it has been 7 1/2 months now...but still, the physical feeling of forming the word in my mouth and then speaking it does something to my physical senses. Perhaps, it is a feeling of honor, privilege, or luck that washes over me? Or love? It is difficult to define. Likewise, when my ears hear the word I have spoken, for a moment it is almost as though I am listening to someone else, but then my brain recognizes my voice and acknowledges what I am saying and again...that feeling. Its warm. It covers me. It fills me...a simple word. It is accompanied with a momentary wonder; wondering if and how I have earned the right to use this word...this is immediately followed by the certain knowledge that the universe has spoken on this, and its alright. This all takes place in the space of 2 or 3 seconds, I doubt if the people I am talking to notice it, but it happens every time. Even now, just typing the word wife fills me with awe as my mind quickly reflects on the weight of it, and everything it means. I hope this never changes, I think it is a good thing. I hope everyone who is married to their love experiences something similar.
