I made brownies today because my Minnie would have been 69 tomorrow. Time doesnt heal all wounds. You just learn that you cant cry every day. You appreciate the lessons you were taught and the stories you were told. You appreciate the occasional dream that she shows up in. You thank her for her advice because you can still hear her voice in your head whenever there is an important decision to be made. But sometimes you still cry. You cry because theres all of these piece of shit human beings left on this earth and she had to die. You cry because your Sunday brunch buddy isnt here. You cry because sometimes you just need a God damn hug from your Grandma. Birthdays and death anniversaries are just salt in open wounds. Id give a year of my life to have one more day with her.
