I made it to the airport late and the C-17 landed behind my plane. I was met by Lifeline driver and Robinson who whisked me over to the waiting area to go to the tarmac. It was grand seeing Rubin the lassion with the US Embassy. He had been gone the last two cargo unloading. The customs folks even come up to see me. Kinda of nice to be welcomed. Lots of Kids Against hunger food and then our 5 military pallets or 20 wooden skids. We still have 12 skids with this application still in SC. Waiting to come down. Most of our cargo was buckets, water jugs, teachers desks, some chairs, baby beds from Laurel,MS, clothing, shoes and canned food from Northport Church of Christ. It was a fairly cool day with a slight breeze blowing. We have to give ten per cent for NGO fee. I had some pallets of stuff just for our NGO. But those pallets did not come down. Shared the cans of food. A can costing $4.98 in the States can cost $14 here in Haiti. So they got a great deal there. What I see happening over and over people see lots of stuff and they get greedy. Had a problem with one guy this time. He sent men to take more boxes of the can food. Have no idea how many he took before I saw him. Was not happy. Have no understanding of greed! The forklift fees are going up! Almost double. GREED! Please pray that we can find another way of unloading. Money is tight in humanitarian aid. We all work hard to get the food and stuff here to help this country and the fork lift company is not satsified with making good money but wants to make a killing!
