He supports the policy but nonetheless can maintain the bill in suspense due to the cost.) Senate President ProTem Senator Darell Steinberg- 6th Senate District Capitol: (916) 651-4006 District: (916) 651-1529 B 1029 (Hancock) – This bill repeals the lifetime ban for CalWORKs and CalFRESH benefits for individuals convicted in state or federal court (after December 31, 1997) of a drug-related felony. SB 1005 (Lara) – This bill will expand access to health care coverage for all Californians, regardless of immigration status. Both bills are on the Senate Appropriations suspense file. The suspense file is a holding placing for bills with significant fiscal impacts. Bills that are moved off of suspense then go to the floor for a full vote of the Senate, while bills held in suspense die. The suspense hearing will be on May 23, 2014. We need you to call State Senator Kevin de Leon (Chair, Senate Appropriations Committee) TODAY to make sure these bills go to the floor!
