I made this owl for an art swap with a friend--we are each others - TopicsExpress

I made this owl for an art swap with a friend--we are each others elves! She stitched a fairy for my daughter out of felt and other magic stuff I dont understand, and I made HER daughter (who loves owls) an owl out of polymer clay. Its the happiest sort of barter! Now for you bird geeks out there--this started out as a saw-whet owl, (not the feather pattern so much as the shape of the body and head), but when I added the face, it looked a little blah, so I added the horn feathers over the eyes. No self-respecting saw-whet owl would have such feathers, but this fella does; and thats how a new breed of owl--the Not-so-great horned saw-whet owl--was born. ;-) A side note: as I was photographing this owl, I caught a flash of wings outside the window in the woods. Not an owl, but a big Red-shouldered hawk swooped down from one tree to another. Im a big believer in signs, so I am sure this was one! It either means good things are in store--or that I need to get busy making a hawk out of clay. :-)
