I make/sell resin cast jewelry and this year I started doing craft markets (Im Australian, so we just finished summer.) I gave it a go from October to this month since I wanted to stick it out for the whole season and not quit, but Im pretty sure this will be my only year. Too many breeders treat me like free babysitting and let their brats touch everything on my table, and thats if Im lucky enough to have a grownup present. Every single market has seen at least one or two young kids who cling to my table for as long as possible, asking me a bunch of inane questions, trying to pick up and play with every single pendant, and getting underfoot when Im trying to talk to real customers. I was nice about it for a while, since my stuff is colorful and looks like toys, but Ive started just loudly and obnoxiously asking them where there parents are and asking if theyre lost (this tends to get the parents attention way better than me just telling them not to touch). I really wanted to like this, but wrangling feral kids is just not my idea of a fun day of selling.
