I may as an anarchist have no time for politicians or party - TopicsExpress

I may as an anarchist have no time for politicians or party politics but I always felt the only reason most people disliked Gordon Brown is because he is an intellectual and has a goofy eye. He always struck me as far more human than any leader before him or after him. I liked what he had to say today. With that in mind I turn to The Who and the song Wont Get Fooled Again. The applicable line for me? Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Here is Townshend offering his explanation for the song....strikes me as relevant. It is not that I do not want Scotland to be independant.....I am just not sure the reasons they are being given are sound. Townshend stated in 2006 that: It is not precisely a song that decries revolution – it suggests that we will indeed fight in the streets – but that revolution, like all action, can have results we cannot predict. Dont expect to see what you expect to see. Expect nothing and you might gain everything. The song was meant to let politicians and revolutionaries alike know that what lay in the centre of my life was not for sale, and could not be co-opted into any obvious cause. [...] From 1971 – when I wrote Wont Get Fooled Again – to 1985, there was a transition in me from refusal to be co-opted by activists, to a refusal to be judged by people I found jaded and compliant in Thatchers Britain. youtube/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q
