I may be leaving for Seattle tomorrow, but I spent some time today checking on logistics for a return trip to Ireland at the end of February -- flights, hotels, etc -- because theres always another mountain beyond the next. It seems a little irresponsible to just up and go back to Cork for a weekend so soon, especially after a big years-planned 3-week trip to England, but last years end-of-winter week in Ireland turned out to be such a wonderful travel-alone vacation, full of adventure and food and ultimately friends and song, that I want to recapture that. The predicted long cold winter will be made warmer by the anticipation of the getting away to that green, green land. And really, the reason I spent so much of my time in England working (more than half of my weekdays) was so Id have the vacation days for this. I am carpeing the diem. Or, as my mother says with only a touch of irony, Ive always been a gather ye rosebuds while ye may sort of person. Meanwhile, off to Seattle.
