I may have been initially harsh in my assessment of the ice bucket challenge videos as nothing more than faux activism but I do stand by my statement that a lot of them are all about garnering the wrong kind of attention. A lot of the videos Ive seen mention ALS in passing or dont even mention it at all. But, it does seem like its working. It must be so incredibly terrifying to see your strength slowly deteriorate as it gets harder and harder to do the simplest tasks. I wont know what thats like (hopefully), until Im much older, but this video really helped me to understand the terror of this disease. I think that there should be more videos like this one, where we see first hand people who are experiencing what this disease does. The video is fun, but at the same time has an educational element that many of the ice bucket challenge videos lack. I really do hope that all the money raised makes significant strides toward finally finding a cure. The ice bucket challenge isnt so bad after all, it seems.
