I may have had a good idea. Get some of those solar powered garden lights from poundland, replace the LED with 2 bare copper wires about 5mm apart around a plant you really dont want being eaten by slugs, when they crawl over the wires they get a little electric shock. You could go one step further and d o the same with the flash circuit on a disposable phone, that would delver 20 000 volts, but would need batteries.
