I measure my worth in bobby pins and lipstick in equations and essays in the angle of my shadow when really, worth cannot be quantified by formulas and rubrics and hedons and dolors but must come from within and sometimes, I forget and do battle upon myself and seal my wounds in pressed tissue paper tied with ribbons and bows a perfect package with nothing inside there is beauty in the cracks that breaks through even when everything is dark that unites the constellations and shines a light that makes you blink in the face of its luminosity and reveals a path through the dark forest and back to shelter for even the most misplaced transient and I will never let anyone extinguish the light that guides us home so when your world feels empty and your skin without merit peer inward and find the goodness that is in every wandering traveler written into the veins themselves and carry that torch with conviction for the bending flame cant be extinguished and Id rather burn than ever let my light go out
