I mentioned in an earlier post Id share a story of one of the frustrations of trying to find out any information. I went to the city counsel to find out about starting a small business here. I was directed to the chiefs office at the parliament building. I walked 5 blocks over & very grateful I could find out what I needed. I arrived there and was told to go back to the city counsel office but bottom floor. I walked back 5 blocks. There were at least 30 people waiting and there was no Order in who went first. There was no line to get in just people standing around at different windows and counters. I stood back and waited in what I thought was a line. When I got close to being next ( so i thought ) another person came out of no where and got in front of me. So I remembered a movie where sandra bullock just walked up to the front of a line and acted as tho she owned the place. So I did. Immediately I was given high priority and treated as tho I was top dog. I was taken into a small office and questioned as to what I wanted. I explained I was looking into starting a small business for my boys so they could work while going to school. I was asked if Im a citizen. Nope! Did I want to become a citizen? Nope. Am I planning on running it by myself. Nope. I explained again.... I want to find out about helping start a small business. I dont care if my names on it or not. Then he asked, do you have a resident card? Nope! Because that would mean Im a resident and I just explained Im a visitor or missionary at best. Do you have an ID number? Well lets see...if I had an ID number Id be a Kenyan. So No! This went one for over 45 minutes. He would talk then walk out then tell me all I need to pay is $1 for the forms. Then I need to either become a permanent resident or be partners with someone who is. Oh yes. I forget the other 30 minutes were discussing why Americans get divorced so often. Anyway....my point is.... Im afraid to ask anyone else how to ship things here because between the doctors, government officials, police, friends and foe I am tired of explaining about why Americans divorce because ultimately in the end I never get any answers to my questions:) and honestly I dont know why Americans divorce..... I can only answer why Im divorced. Cant speak for all Americans.
