I met Olivier Berthelot and Eric Gagnon during a permaculture - TopicsExpress

I met Olivier Berthelot and Eric Gagnon during a permaculture workshop at Unifier Festival this weekend, where Starhawk and Nature Dreamweaver were working with participants from the Unifier community to build a spiral herb garden on the girl scout camp where the festival was held, taking the idea of “leave no trace” even further by leaving a legacy of adding something beneficial to the land that would live on beyond the time of the festival itself. Which is an example of and metaphor for the potential of the growing international, intergenerational Transformational culture that Eric and Olivier are creating Tribe Culture Magazine to empower and unite. “Transformational gatherings propose strong environmental and social values by creating, within the events themselves, projects on new sustainable ways of living, community building, holistic medicine and new spirituality. Offering a wide diversity of contexts and dimensions to explore, the general experience proposed will ultimately lead the participants to a better understanding of himself. These ‘life changing’ moments experienced will create a positive impact on the participant, who will, as a result, apply significant positive change in his life.” ~ Olivier on tribe culture.org Tribe Culture Magazine is in part Eric’s Masters thesis in anthropology and sociology, and as he told me, he wanted to do something that had benefit outside of the just the academic setting. Olivier is a co-founder and both he and Eric are currently on the board of directors of Projets OpenMind Projects., which puts on the bi-annual OpenMind Festival in the Quebec region, and both are seasoned djs and an integral part of the Transformational scene in Canada. “We deeply believe that society in general has a lot to gain from raising awareness of the transformational culture. Our goal is to help abolish negative stereotypes and bring an authentic portrait of the transformational culture to the public. Our hope is that the magazine can serve to educate the public, leave a legacy and shift the collective consciousness toward recognizing the transformational culture officially.” ~ from the mission statement on tribeculture.org And as Eric told me, help unite the tribes of the east coast of North America. They have noticed that there are pockets of Transformational culture, many somewhat underground, as most of the attention is placed on the larger festivals and the negative assumption that festival culture is primarily hedonistic partying. By traveling to numerous festival gatherings this summer and creating online and print photography, reflections and information they hope to alert us to each other and help unify our culture so that we can continue to inspire each other and intentionally grow collectively to share the Transformational vision of celebration and respect to help heal and evolve each other and the earth. Check out their work and consider contributing to their kickstarter link in the comments…and share this information anywhere it may be of interest. Thank you
