I met in person with a magistrate yesterday, and she was appalled by the behavior of the officer who wrote me the four tickets and was more than happy to dismiss three of them. Both trips to the courthouse have resulted in an hour-long wait, as the magistrate on duty could not be bothered to spring into action, and they had me wait, both times, until the next shift started. After finally having a chance to speak with a working magistrate, she agreed that people are effectively being chased out of Fayetteville and harrassed by overly aggressive officers and a system more focused on generating income than serving the community. She suggested not only a letter to the local paper but one to the Supreme Court as well. She was ticked. No joke.
