I met this man as I was going through my first major career - TopicsExpress

I met this man as I was going through my first major career transition -- from electronic to print media. Reserved, serious and stern (at least so it seemed), he sat at the furthest distance from my workstation at my new workplace, and actually seemed the most distant too. The Deputy Editor of Star Arts & Entertainment seemed much less accessible than the Editor. And soon after, my editor went on a 9-day trip abroad, leaving me in his charge. He practically took me under his wing, and in that one week I learned and understood far more about my job than I had in the previous two months. He was in our team for another three months only, before he was handed a bigger, more exciting challenge, but in that short span, he became my favorite person in the office. I learned an awful lot, connected to him better, saw the lighter sides of him, and most importantly, was inspired in many ways than I can remember. He had to leave our team rather abruptly and he handed quite a heavy baton, but also made sure I was equipped to carry it forward. A year and a half has passed since then, and I have grown in my role a fair bit. Thankfully, he has never stopped being the mentor and guide that he as always been, at work, and beyond. He is still my go-to person for a lot of issues, and he looks over me, whenever need be. Heres wishing a personal hero many amazing returns of the day. Happy Happy Birthday to Opu bhai, the awesome.
