I met up with my mechanic yesterday and while we were having a casual conversation, I asked him about his cat. He then told me he wanted to get rid of it and asked me how to. I was shocked! And asked him to clarify what he meant by get rid of and why. He said that his cat was old and couldnt hold his pee any more, so was dirtying the house. I then told him point blank that he too, was old and maybe his kids should get rid of him too. Initially, it didnt quite sink in and then, he proceeded to ask me whether he could send his cat to SPCA. I said no and advised him to buy diapers or bring his cat to a vet and get some meds to help with the incontinence. To people out there who think like him, I say Suck It Up! You brought this pet home and for better or worse, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to take care of it till it passes on due to natural causes. It is not SPCA nor any other shelters, pet shops or pet care givers to just dump your pet away just cuz YOU CANT handle the down side of things. In life, there are always ups and downs. And if YOU cant handle the downs, YOU have no RIGHT taking care of anyone or anything else that breathes.
