I met with a new client consult who had already met with another lawyer. In what I can only imagine as an attempt to discredit my services this lawyer advised the potential client to question my listing of no billed cases on my website. He told the client that the grand jury makes the decision and that defense lawyers have nothing to do with the process. Well, Im going to send that lawyer and nice bottle of scotch today. It gave me a chance to explain to the client the proactive investigative process that I engage in before these cases are even filed or taken to a grand jury. We submit our findings to the district attorneys office in consideration and or presentation to the grand jury. Some police agencies are simply too busy to conduct an adequate investigation. If I can head off a potential felony filing on my client then I will. I will not set by and let bad information lead to an indictment on my client. So, again thank you, Mr. competitor you gave me a chance to explain to this potential client how we practice law. And yes they retained.
