I might as well weigh in on the typical topics people discuss. I havent played Skyrim. I have no computer capable of even running my old copy of Morrowind. I have no interest in fighting a series of console wars or game wars. What I can provide are general observations and reactions I have personally. In the first place the new stat system in Skyrim annoys me. The careful necessity of balancing your character creation is something anyone who has played a good DND game knows. Morrowinds exact skill uses are debatable, but having each skill tied to an attribute caused the creation process to be very selective and intricate. Thats something I enjoy. Literally dropping the complex interplay of stats and skills is a bad call (and invalidates the effort I go to in order to craft a perfect spellsword), but the regenerating health is worse. That breaks immersion for me. Essentially Morrowind is like a tabletop game brought into the digital realm, but Skyrim is much more generic and seemingly designed around the visuals. That doesnt necessarily mean its terrible and horrible. But theres a lot of lost potential in my opinion. More matter and less art would be preferable. That is my concrete belief. I have little regard for the Thalmor vs Empire vs Stormcloaks debates, or the raging battles about Nords. I hold to what I like, I have no expectation for anyone to do anything but the same. Debating that would be rather pointless.
