I might be in the minority on this, but the ice bucket challenge - TopicsExpress

I might be in the minority on this, but the ice bucket challenge is losing its effectiveness as a way to gain awareness, research or money for ALS. It seems to me it has become a way for people to gain a few moments of self-gratification on-line, especially celebrities or companies. I dont hear anyone talk about ALS or any charity before they dump icy water all over themselves. I dont hear anyone talk about what ALS is, the impact it has on people, or what research is going on to cure it. If money is donated where are they donating it? Is the place reputable and does the money actually go to research or treatment? Before you dump cold water on yourself or challenge another person to do the same, ask your self one question. Who or what am I doing this for?
