I might be stepping out on a lonely limb by saying this, but I think too many times, we all get caught up in the process of trying to be our best that we end up becoming someone worse. Surround yourself with people you want to be like, delete all the negativity from your life & keep striving, never look back, they say. Now, Ive gone through enough experiences where I value those principles and practice them as well, buuuut theres a problem when those same uplifting principles blind you from humility. Without reflection and a honest soundboard in your life, all these things can mold you into a very undesirable person. Yes, surround yourself with like minded people and strive to be better, but dont forget to come back down and surround yourself with a diverse group of people, no matter how far youve come. Maybe being in California has affected me in some ways, but Im happy that I can always go back home and feel like me and I think most of my friends will say the same. Simply a better me, not a better stranger. -A.
