I miss the simplicity I miss the family I miss the streets I miss the buildings I miss the smell of yasmin and of gasoline I miss sitting on the floor to eat with every individual of my family I miss the trips to the farm I miss climbing the trees to eat blackberries I miss sleeping on the balcony I miss going to the oldest mosque in the world and laying on the tile floor I miss all of the tasty foods, going from one booth to the next switching between sweet and salty I miss temer hindi after walking souk al hamdia all day (one of the oldest trade streets in the world) I miss taking the six hour bus ride to Latakia thinking we were traveling to another world I miss eating bagdash I miss going to weddings in the middle of the village streets I miss making fun of the teachers at school I miss not being an outsider I miss walking the village streets hours on end I miss the swings I miss the candy I miss the broken sidewalks and dirt streets I miss the generosity I miss the unconditional love Syria I miss everything. Once this is all over I will be back to clean your streets
