I missed a very important opportunity today. After church I - TopicsExpress

I missed a very important opportunity today. After church I decided to get a salad at the Wolf Den in Hayes grocery store. I was the only one sitting in the small eating area there fore several minutes. Then a very loud group of people came in and filled up 2 &1/2 booths. I dont remember how many there were altogether. Maybe 10? I just looked and smiled once or twice while I was eating. When I was done the only man of the groupl of several young ladies and some children said, I hope we didnt run you off I know we are pretty loud. I said, No no not at all are you all one big family? They answered yes an I was briefly filled in that they were here to bring one of the young ladies to college here. The girl in question raised her hand to let me know which one of them would be attending. We chatted briefly as I welcomed them to town and I shared that I had a son that would also be starting to college this month. Then I leftm As I drove out of the parking lot and onto the street, I realized I could have asked this girl if she had a church family. I could have asked the parents if they were people of faith. I could have given the girl my phone number and asked if she would like me to pick her up and bring her to church if she didnt have a car. I could have offered a more hospitable snd friendly gesture some how to the parents who were leaving a their teen in a strange and unfamiliar place and maybe made some new friends too.. This girl and her parents and her family could have been prospective converts. I didnt know anything about them. Didnt know status as far as their salvation was concerned. Nor did it even enter my mind while I was talking to them. But I thought of it as I left. So I turned around and went back. I thought of what I would say when I walked back in the door. I was kind of embarrassed. But I went on in. But it was too late. They were gone. I didnt see them anywhere. Then I thought this yound lady may have started coming to church. We have several college boys but no girls at our congergation. She may have become a faithful young christian she could hace eventually become a christian wife to any of the young men at our congergation. She could have influenced her family of 8-10 to also obey the gospel. I lost that opportunity and many more in the past. I hope I am more thoughtful of this in the future and remember the great commission.
