I must admit, when the Germans started down this path in 2010, I thought for sure they would lose their nerve before they got this far. I wonder if American environmentalists would be able to put up with retail electricity rates 3-4 times higher at €0.285/kwh or $0.39/kwh and continuing rises in CO2 emissions, with 6 coal plants under construction in Germany! Meanwhile, Dominion Virginia just requested a rate decrease to $0.108/kwh and US CO2 emissions are down 10%. How many more BMW and Mercedes factories will we build in the US before the Germans sort this out? Thank you shale gas.
