I must admit with great regret that I fell into this pattern. Not nearly as severe as my experience but made up for it verbally which I mistakingly thought was a better option. I was wrong!!! It was my familial pathology and inability to intelligently come up with a better way. When we know better, we do better. I am publicly confessing what I consider to be my sins in hopes it can help even one child from being hit and traumatized by the person they NEED to trust the most. Maybe subjecting themselves to the same abuse because its a familiar pattern. I know there are many that disagree. Thats ok. I still have the right to my feelings. I feel strongly about this subject because I dont want anyone to be burdened with the debilitating affects this can have on families. Thank God times are changing. Women, if its not ok for your husband/partner to hit you, why would it be ok to assault your child? Men, if its not ok for your partner/wife to hit you, why would you hit a child. It is violence. We need to get smarter with discipline then just caving to old archaic patterns.
