I must be calming down as I get older, I’m no longer turning to - TopicsExpress

I must be calming down as I get older, I’m no longer turning to my pen trying to change the world with rants! While others talk and rant they physically do nothing. I’ve been channeling my own frustration into doing something positive for the scene and came up with the idea of the Brighton music conference/Academy that we launched in the UK earlier this year (three hard years in the making). My main aim was to provide education for the next generation to give them the knowledge and tools to enable them to make a successful career in the music industry, we put together over 50 workshops, seminars and tutorials hosted by some of the biggest players and companies in the music industry; Dave Clarke, Eats Everything, Dave Seaman, NATIVE INSTRUMENTS, Pioneer DJ, Mixcloud, DJ Mag , PRS for Music, Jono Above & Beyond and a whole load of others all gave their personal input and one to one advice. Over 6000 very happy people attended our first event, hosted at our very unique 16th century venue in Brighton UK. We covered all angles of the industry from, how to get gigs, how to get signed, running a label, handling social media, how to promote a club/event, publishing and a whole lot more. Its far more satisfying seeing the smiles on peoples faces as they walk away than blubbering away via a blog. We’re already working on next years event that will be hosted in June 5th & 6th next year, this is panning out to be even bigger and better (if at all possible!). The greatest asset of getting yourself involved, is being able to rub shoulders with some of the most important industry players due to them heading to the conference for networking and meetings. It’s happening all in one place under one big roof. If it wasn’t for the generation before me, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the fruitful career that I’ve had, if it wasn’t for my generation you all wouldn’t be enjoying the great scene that we all have today, so for me it’s important to give the next generation the knowledge and tools that they will invest to the following generations to come. Upon invitation from the British commission and submerge.in/Exchange I’ll be heading over to India next week to take part in a music conference hosted in Mumbai to represent all the great things about the British electronic music scene and culture. I’d like to contribute establishing a closer working relationship with the two countries, the rewards I’d like to see more of the next generation of our artists head over there to gain fruitful careers, and likewise for Indian talent heading to our shores. Out of all the countries I have a close relationship with, India has a very special place in my heart so I feel proud and honoured to be a part of this. Who knows how this will grow, I’ll like to do the same with other countries, Argentina and Australia for example. I know in the comments of this post many of my fans in India will be asking will I be playing while over there? Yes of course, I couldn’t let you down. Here’s the dates. October 2nd :Octoberfest (Goa) October 7th: Exchange conference, Mumbai (day) October 7th: Exchange @ Blue frog (Mumbai) October 8th: Exchange @ Ritz, (Bangalore) October 9th: Exchange @ Pune I need to listen to you guys and girls of what advice you need and what areas of the industry you need advice and help with. Post in the comments below, it will give me the information and incite I need to be able to get these issues covered in our conference next year.
