I must be doing something right I just received my first personal facebook message critical of my stance on behalf of refugees suggesting left wing people like me should pay a 10% levy to subsidise refugees to come to Australia. The person had applied to join our group, he was a member of 270 other groups had no friends who were refugee supporters and nothing on his account to indicate an interest in them. i sent him a message asking why he wanted to join and he messaged me back critical of supporting refugees. This is was my reply. if your a baby boomer the reason you may have work to seventy is because there is a disproportionate number of us baby boomers and not enough young people entering the work force so that their taxes can be used to pay the pensions of baby boomers. Allowing refugees into Australia and entering the workforce provides more tax to pay for baby boomers pensions. Meanwhile the government is spending five billion a year keeping them in detention. So their not paying tax to contribute to the Australian economy and we are spending five billion to prevent them paying tax. Effectively every Australian is paying a levy to reduce the tax the government can collect to provide further services to Australians, thats crazy.
