I must say I am a staunch admirer of the CCAP Blantyre Synod. The reason being, it is the only synod so far that accommodates, encourages and promotes its members irrespective of where they come from to hold decision making positions in the church. For instance, members from Northern and Central regions hold strategic positions within the church such as Session Clerks etc etc. Apart from that, the Church has over the years put women clerics at helm of the church such as Moderator and it has now become unwritten policy that every time the Synod holds elective conference, a woman is elected into the top four hierarchy of the Synod. This can never happen anywhere in the other two synods namely Livingstonia and Nkhoma. It is very rare for non-northerner to hold an elective position in Livingstonia and same applies to Nkhoma where key positions are dominated by those who come from central region. In this regard, I think the spirit in Blantyre synod has to be encouraged for the purposes of national unity and coexistence. And what is even more encouraging is that you will never find the southerners complain with the satus quo. They are used to it and when it comes to voting for key positions such as session clerks at congregation level, members simply look at merits of the candidates and not necesarily their home of origin. Keep it up Blantyre Synod!!
